Absolute Sono
Sono is the world’s first ultrasonic on-press anilox cleaning system. Ultrasonic cleaning, the most thorough and safe cleaning method, allows anilox cells to regain their set volume. And with Sono, it is now possible to clean your anilox rollers ultrasonic on-press — while they stay installed.
Being the fastest ultrasonic anilox cleaning system that cleans on-press, Sono makes it easy to keep anilox roll volumes constant. This results in consistent color density, in a fraction of the time traditional cleaning takes, and without removing the anilox rollers.
By developing the Sono ultrasonic on-press anilox cleaning method, Absolute solved two major issues in the flexo printing process:
- preventing damage of anilox rollers by enabling on-press cleaning
- keeping color density consistent by allowing constant anilox volumes
1. On-press cleaning prevents damage to anilox rollers
Studies show that ultrasonic cleaning is the safest and preferred method to clean anilox rolls. But the downside of ultrasonic cleaning is that it requires the anilox to be taken to an ultrasonic tank, sometimes on the other side of the plant.
Sono provides the same ultrasonic performance, but with a much smaller footprint. And, more importantly, it is movable and fits into the machine as a chamber against the anilox. Because Sono is easy to install and operate, the anilox volume can be kept at the same level for much longer.
With Sono on-press anilox cleaning, it is no longer necessary to disassemble the press’s anilox rollers. This is a big advantage because disassembling damages one in four anilox rolls. Resulting in the loss of production time and expenses to repair your costly anilox rolls.
Sono keeps your anilox rollers intact, is easy to use, and works on-press, so you don’t need a team of specialists — anyone can operate it.
2. Consistent color density by enabling constant anilox volumes
Due to its fast and thorough cleaning method, Sono makes conventional periodical deep cleaning of anilox rolls unnecessary. Because it takes Sono ultrasonic on-press system only 20 minutes to clean your anilox rollers, you can clean at shorter intervals and thereby keep your anilox volume constant.
If Sono is used according to the instructions in a two-week cycle, the anilox volume loss can be kept below 10%. Consequently, the color formulated in a laboratory corresponds, from the first print run to the color on the print — without ink adjustments.
Because of a set ink volume in the anilox roll, you can adjust the ink film’s weight to the substrate/cardboard to achieve the agreed color match.
This way, you don’t need to correct the ink’s color by adding more pigment, which adds cost to the already small margins.
Key benefits of Sono ultrasonic on-press anilox cleaning
By controlling the anilox volume regularly, color density is correct every first print. You don’t need extra pigment to keep the accurate color density, so you save on set-up time and prevent waste, and get free production capacity in return. The benefits:
- Performing 15x faster than conventional cleaning so that you can keep cleaning intervals shorter.
- The ultrasonic method thoroughly cleans the anilox cells allowing you to keep anilox volumes constant.
- Eliminating time-consuming and dangerous disassembling of your anilox rollers.
- Preventing damage to your costly anilox rollers.
- Consistent color density — even at first print runs — prevents waste and set-up time.
